Body of missing chairman is recovered
The body of the chairman of a Calgary-based energy company has been recovered from the waters of an Ontario lake.
Police say the body has been positively identified as that of Bradley David Griffiths.
The 55-year-old executive was boating on Lake Joseph near Parry Sound last Monday when he somehow ended up in the water, apparently without a life jacket.
The family had to hire a private diving company to recover his body Saturday morning from a depth of about 90 metres.
The Toronto executive was the driving force behind Griffiths Energy International, a company at the forefront of Chad’s emerging oil and gas industry.
The company has been granted two land concessions in Chad.
The African country’s oil-riches have been relatively undeveloped compared with some of its neighbours, Libya, Sudan and Nigeria.
Jay Park, Griffiths’ lawyer said Friday that the company had announced a new management team on Thursday, four days after its chairman disappeared.
Ontario Provincial Police say a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
