Tugboat tragedy crewman named

Police named the crewman who died last week when a tugboat sank on the River Thames in London.

He was Darren Lacey, 40, from Gravesend in Kent, who was on the tug Chieftain when it went down off Greenwich Pier last Friday.
Two other crewmen on the tug, which was towing a barge, were rescued. A search for Mr Lacey was called off after several hours.
His body was recovered on Monday from nearby Convoys Wharf.

A post-mortem examination held gave cause of death as drowning. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency are investigating the accident with the help of the Metropolitan Police’s Marine Policing Unit.
